5 reasons to learn Norwegian in Greece and how you start
Although Norwegian is spoken by 5 million people and most of them live in Norway, there are some good reasons to learn this Scandinavian language.
- It will definitely help you find a better job and achieve your goals in the country.
- You learn a rare language, and once you perfect it, you’ll be able to communicate with the neighboring Swedes and Danes because there are many common linguistic elements.
- Norwegian is categorized as a Germanic language, and for the northern Germanic languages, it is a Western Scandinavian language. Therefore, those who speak German can learn Norwegian quite quickly.
- For English speakers, Norwegian is easier to learn. There are some similarities with English in vocabulary, as well as in other language features, including certain grammatical phenomena and sentence structures. However, like with any language, you will need to spend time and effort to learn Norwegian well.
- And finally, you can better understand the culture and history of the country. It is definitely the only way to have a fuller life in the country if you decide to immigrate, because you will feel that you are inkludert (included), as Norwegians say — that you are also a part of society.
Finally, it is important to understand that you should not be misled by the fact that Norwegians speak good English and count on that communication can be done in this way. Εnglish is a useful tool to help you with your immigration. But it is a big mistake to rely exclusively on English because it makes it difficult to integrate into the social life of the country. You will be able to expand your social life much more easily and feel the vibration of the country only by learning the language.
It is very important to start your preparation from Greece, reaching at least an A2 or B1 level depending on your needs, so that your transition to the country of Norway becomes smoother.
