About the books
The books I use for levels A1-B2 are “På vei,” “Stein på stein,” and “Her på berget” published by Cappelen Damm. Emphasis is placed on developing oral communication skills and familiarizing students with the social structure and culture of the country.
About the language levels
Level A1
Described as the “basic level,” it is the lowest level where language users can use the language in a general sense. Users at this level can understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and very simple statements about themselves and their immediate environment.
Level A2
At this level, someone can comprehend simple language more clearly and participate in basic, familiar interactive situations if the conversational partners adjust their language and are willing to help.
Level B1
Level B1 is the first of the two levels in the “independent language user” category. Language users at this level have a greater grasp of grammar and syntactic structures, as well as a relatively wider vocabulary, enabling them to understand and express themselves comprehensibly and coherently on topics related to their life, education, professional situation, well-known social issues, and personal interests. Participants can engage in most interaction situations spontaneously if conversational partners express themselves clearly.
Level B2
Level B2 is the second level in the “independent language user” category. The language user has reached a level where they have advanced language proficiency. They have a higher level of linguistic awareness and can plan what to say and how to say it, as well as correct their own mistakes that may lead to misunderstandings, and notice and work on correcting recurring errors. Language users at this level can understand complex language and express themselves substantially, with clarity and nuances, on a wide range of general topics within their professional field and areas of interest. Participants can express and respond to opinions and arguments and engage in interaction situations using spontaneous and fluent language, making communication effortless for both parties.
Level C1
The C levels are defined as the superior level, and the description “effective language use” is used for level C1. The speaker can understand the main content and details of complex or academic texts. The individual can express themselves spontaneously and fluently without appearing to search for ways to express themselves. They can use the language flexibly and appropriately for social, academic, and professional purposes and write clear, detailed, and well-structured texts on most topics. With C1 proficiency, someone can study at a Norwegian university.
About me
My name is Natasha and from a very young age, I enjoyed learning foreign languages. I showed an early inclination for English and French language. In fact, I have a bachelor degree in French language by Athens University.
How did Norwegian language come into my life? My love for this language began in 2013 when I had to learn it in order to immigrate there. In 2014 I relocated and after a while I started working in elementary Norwegian schools in Oslo. Therefore I was urged to speak in my everyday life and I perfected the language by obtaining the diploma from the official educational organization Kompetanse Norge. In this way, I myself entered the process of systematic study of the language which makes me aware of the students needs.
For the past 4 years I have been systematically involved in teaching Norwegian, prepared students to immigrate and to take the language certification exams there. However, it is often helpful to get to know the country’s culture in order to learn a new language effectively. Therefore I am in the position to help the student and share my personal experience regarding the working environment and social structure of Norway.
